Click to Pay - the scheme-led guest-checkout standard - has had a long and uneven history. The current iteration, with cleaner merchant integration and tokenization throughout, is gaining real traction with mid-market merchants that lack a native wallet alternative.
The strategic question is whether Click to Pay can carve out a durable position between native wallets and merchant-stored card-on-file.
